Swimming Data

Our pupils benefit from access to a Flexi-swimming provision. Flexi-swimming is an arrangement in which the school will fund one term of up to 14 lessons at a pool close to a child’s home address or at the choice of the parent. This approach frees up the time table during the school day, provides lessons that are better suited to ability and is overall represents a best value use of school funds. If you want to know more about this please feel free to contact Mr Malbon our Bursar.

All schools must provide swimming instruction either in key stage 1 or key stage 2.
Our pupils are taught to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25metres, use a range of strokes effectively, e.g. front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and to be able to self-rescue in different water-based situations.

We work with a range of venues, usually close to a pupil’s home address given most of our children live over 10 miles away from school and some as far as 40 miles. The pools we currently work closely with are Bakewell, Buxton, Cheadle (Staffs), and Leek. Each pool offers a rolling program of swimming lessons using the Swim England Staging system of Discovery and Learn to Swim Stages 1 to 11 and above. We already have several pupils who are swimming distances in excess of 2000metres.
